    Watch in Good Morning Vietnam

The other night, I was watching Good Morning Vietnam and I noticed the watch Robin Williams had on. Can anyone identify it? Id assume it some sort of military issue.

I would be curious to know as well. During the era that movie was filmed (late 80's) there was a plethora of "mil-spec" mechanical hand wind watches that were sold in PX's across the land. Below is my own late 80's era, plastic cased mechanical hand wind I used when I was active duty USMC. On the flightline where I worked as an aviation ordnanceman, it was common to use nylon wrist straps with a velcro over-protector cover to guard against bashing it in and around the work area. I got away from using those as soon as I discovered that once you soaked them through with sweat the funk they exuded could be quite memorable.

He was a comedic genius and yes, a watch collector! Unfortunately great people always gone so soon... he should have been on a suicide watch.

Only last year, they auctioned off 44 of his watches.

The watch above in question, I don't think it's a plastic watch. I think it's metal. May be if someone has access to know what those 44 watches were, there may be a chance this is one of them.

Ok, they did list his 44 watches here: Creating a Stage: The Collection of Marsha and Robin Williams

Unfortunately, none of them look like the watch in question in the first post. I guest it was either just a movie prop or a watch he once owned but not part of the expensive collection.

This video also has lots of shots of the watch. What a great actor! Greatly missed...

Just a wild guess, I think it's an older Hamilton with a slightly domed crystal like the one below. It fits the setting at the Vietnam war era.

Thank you for the better shots, I was having issues getting good ones. Also, thanks for the rundown on his collection, I didn’t know he was part of the hobby.

Hamilton released a modern version (sapphire crystal, 38mm vs the original 33mm) just last year. It's a great watch for the price.

The newer versions come with the lowbeat H-50 handwind movement..

I prefer my older highbeat with smoother ETA2801 handwind. Came either date or no-date, green or black dial:

Also there is the bigger dial automatic highbeat Glycine Combat:
