This is the watch I was wearing when...

There are certain items that you will never part from because they have a special meaning. Watches can be like that, and I like hearing people talk about the special bond between them and their watch. Sometimes it is the watch you wore when you got married, or maybe when your kids got married. Sometimes it is a war watch, or a watch worn during some other significant event in your life. If you wouldn't mind sharing your story and a picture of the watch, I'm sure others would like to hear your tale.

I'll start you off. "I will never get rid of this watch. "This is the watch I was wearing when..."

Crazy as it sounds, I'm pretty sure I was NOT wearing a watch when I got married. I rediscovered watches afterwards, when my father-in-law bought me a suit and I needed a more gentlemanly way to tell time than pulling out my cell phone.

It was only after I rediscovered watches that my dad felt comfortable enough to hand down his watch, which Mom bought for him soon after their own marriage.

For this thread, then, it fits "I was wearing this watch when...," I retired from the Marine Corps last year.

Wearing this one when I crashed above the treeline on the Mt Hood (Oregon) summer alpine training grounds GS course (on a rock hard slab of glacial ice)--cracked a couple of ribs, separated my shoulder, but it kept on ticking...
