    Watch identification

    Hi all,

I’m new to the site so if I’m doing this wrong or have posted in the wrong place please just let me know!

My grandad was going through some watches he has accumulated over the years and although I was able to identify most of them I came across one that I can’t put my finger on!

Google has got so far but I’m struggling at finding an exact match. I’ve attached some pictures, can anyone tell me a bit more about the watch? It’s quartz from what I can gather. I don’t recognise the make at all.

    Thanks!

    Rory

Thanks! Going by the info available then it looks like it’s nothing special? Must have been one of the odds he picked up at a car boot sale then ha ha.

I found a Seiko Automatic Chronograph from what I think is the 1970’s. The crystal and bracelet are shall we say showing signs of wear but it may be worth a look at trying to salvage. I’ll hoepfully get some pictures of it in the next few days and see what people think!

    Thanks again

Modern quartz chronograph (when the subdials are at 2:00, 6:00 and 10:00, you always know that it's quartz - although the reverse isn't true, of course: many quartz chronographs have different layouts) so I'll shift this to Public. If it is considered inappropriate there, please shift it further.

Thanks Hartmut. Apologies for posting in the wrong place, I’m getting new to this forum stuff.

Seems it must have been just a random one he picked up!

The auto Seiko chronograph is worth salvaging. If you arent interested in having repairs done, don't throw it in a drawer and forget about it. Someone will buy it and bring it up to speed.

Cheers. I’ll see if I can get a hold of it in the next few days and get a proper look at it. Think it’ll need a fair bit of repair but as long as it’s reasonable and worth it i’ll Probably try to salvage it.
