    Watch with Life Time Warranty

How come no watch company dare to take a "Life Time Warranty" as a business model.

As long the watch is Authentic carrying the company name, they will do the service for free. routine service is 5yrs.
Of course, this kinda service will reflect on its MSRP.

If the free service will cost too much to handle, the watch can tie to one owner only. "Limited Life Time Warranty" Because your life on earth is limited. Your future generation own your watch will terminate the warranty. Unless a renewal.

Your watch can be charged x3 as much as an Omega with same quality but warranty is Life Time.
To many, this may not be a bad deal.

    What do you think?

I'm sure there was a kickstarter with a lifetime warranty (which really isn't worth much)

I think that the high end companies are making too much money on servicing to even consider offering a lifetime warranty.

A small footnote says: u may need to wait for a life time to get your watch back.

i wish there exists a centralized/universal watch servicing center which cover nearly all types of watches, brands, vintages or antiques.. Still better than mailing watches all around places. it earns outsourcing frees n insurance premiums etc. how's that?

Do they? Looking at their web site I see the following, so the warranty is only 1 year.

Lifetime timing adjustments on mechanical models.
Lifetime battery replacement on quartz models.
    One year limited warranty.

Re: Watch with Life Time Warranty

For a quality automatic watch, my understanding is that when you pay for a full service it is basically dismantled and then rebuilt, with any worn parts etc. replaced. If so then you would expect the same warranty on the serviced watch as you get on the new one.

Is this the way it normally works, or are service warranties of shorter duration than on the original watch?

So for example Rolex now offer 5 year warranty, but say there is a 10 year service interval. If you service the watch every 5 years would they then consider the watch remained permanently in warranty, whereas if you delayed the service past the 5 year mark and it suffered a failure you would then need to pay for the repair?

I don't think the service warranty lasts as long as the purchase warranty. I know that Omega offer a similar purchase warranty to Rolex nowadays but the service warranty is only 2 years.

Agree. The definition of "service" needs to be clear.

Anything that breaks after 5 years would not be covered, no matter what you had done to the watch. Getting it serviced doesn't extend the warranty. It doesn't matter what the recommended service interval is.
