The watch market is so saturated that I think you need to have something that sets your brand apart from the sea of others.

    Perseus,

Your right it is saturated that is why I am doing my research. Been saturated is fine because ALL industries/markets are saturated. What matters is can you make profits in this industry, if yes then its a good business to get into. This is why I am conducting my research. The other is how you will set your brand apart from ALL the other brands of watch lines. This is how you will make profits by attracting customers to your line. My biggest concern is not the competition is the important question: Is there still money to be made in this business? or are watch makers losing money?

That depends entirely on how the watch is received and how well it sells as a result of that , if it doesn't sell in big enough quantities you're gonna lose money, if it does sell you will make money.

    Re: Watch Line

There is more than one question to be answered.
Are watch makers making money? Yes.
Are there a lot of small companies selling watches? Yes.
Should you be concerned about the competition? Yes.
Should you determine whether your unique watch design will be of interest to someone else beside yourself? Yes.
Do watch makers close because they do not have the funds to carry the business before sales slowly develop? Yes.
Should you determine whether you will actually manufacture watches, buy components and assemble them or buy complete watches? Yes.
