Watch for my father's birthday? pilot

He was a commercial and corporate captain for 24 years. I would like to build him a watch that has a pilots watch look to it. This is not a big budget at all. Im looking for styled watches, quartz or auto that are good but not expensive. the only nice watch he has is a citizen quartz and an Omega Moonwatch he bought yearrrs ago and only wore for checkrides. it sits in his safe now. i want this to be sharp, vintage looking maybe, and accurate enough for an everyday wearer.

    thank you guys!!

Build or buy a ready watch?
Modern Pilot look, or Vintage Pilot look?

    Budget?

If he doesn't have a Citizen Skyhawk or Super-Pilot already, he needs one. Not vintage at all, but practical, accurate as anything, and designed for the job.

My mom gave my dad a gold Breitling Navitimer when he got his USN wings.

I don't recall EVER seeing him wear it, and I'm sure it has never been serviced in 40+ years.

Conclusion: buy him something he will wear, not something you think is appropriate to his profession.

(ps - any ideas how I ask my dad to give me the watch? I would wear it!)

Modded seiko. plop some plongeurs on it and a nice sinn style dial.
