    Watch ran different down under

My daily tool watch is a Hamilton scuba King. Home in the US it reliably runs +3-5 seconds a day. Not bad, and it is very consistent.

On assignment for two weeks in Australia, it ran nearly perfectly. As in I was only +1 second after a week and a half.

Has as anyone ever heard of this? Does the spin and tilt of the earth affect how an automatic runs?

This is a well-known and documented phenomenon back down under.
Generally we have narrowed it down to the fact that there is an abundance of good cold beer, our sun-bleached hair, killer surf breaks, sunshine and coffee.
Helping this smooth running is also the body's involuntary quivering when you walk up to any of us to chat; preparing for our damned accent makes you do a slight electric boogaloo- too slight to see with the naked eye, but the watch benefits endlessly from the currents rippling through your skin waiting for us to say "g-day"

Might be Coriolis effect. I think you need a tourbillon asap to address those pesky gravity effects.

Yup, that's what happens when your movement starts going counter-clockwise.

Sure, it happens all the time. Since we are upside down there is less impact from gravity and mechanical things run more smoothly and accurately and with less wear.
I only service my watches every 25 years.

I am new here and love the seriousness of the thread! Maybe you bonked it on the way out there and you made it even more accurate! :P
