Which watch says "1960s" or "1970s" to yoy?

If you had to pick one for each decade ....what is your iconic watch choice for the 1960s and the 1970s?

To me, nothing defines the sixties more than the iconic Timex Marlin... "It takes a licking and keeps on ticking." It seemed like every time you turned on the TV, there was a new (and totally entertaining) 'Timex Torture Test' commercial running. The Marlin was the first watch I owned (at about age 6), and I happen to have a NOS Marlin in my collection now (complete with original box, papers, and warranty).

Look at this pristine beauty from the mid sixties.

Here's one of the classic "shockproof and waterproof" live demo commercials.

And here's another commercial that went a little bit sideways, but should make the idiots that keep asking whether it's safe to wash their hands with their 50m WR on their wrist give their heads a shake. These Marlins had maybe 30m WR, and they would strap them onto outboard motor props and run them at over 4,000 rpm in a tank, and the watch would be fine.

These old Seiko 5Actus watches speak 70's to me. One was my brother's (he gave it to me because he knows I'm a watch nut, and one that was my fathers, who is gone now). Rehabbed the one on the left (was my father's, had it serviced and put a Jubilee style band on it as the original, which I saved, was broken and a bit beyond saving), and am gonna do a refresh on the one on the right which was my brothers. Both were still running and never previously serviced. Speaks well to the hardiness of these old Seikos, as they both had pretty physical jobs all their lives, as reflected in the scratches and scars on the watches. My mother brought them back from Japan on a trip back there in 1971 or so as gifts for us. There was one more that I wish I still had, a beautiful blue dial one that was mine, but that was completely destroyed one night while I was in college when I got jumped by 2 A**holes late one evening after a bit of bar hopping. Uh, I did at least send one guy to an ER (I played line in college and was fairly big). The other guy had to take him.

I still think these look pretty cool (a bit on the small side for today's style though I guess at around 37mm), and they have sentimental value to me.

For me, the sixties is my Longines... Stylistically similar to the JLC MUT. Dauphine or spear hands, stick hour markers, no date.

To me, the seventies looked similar to the sixties, but a date window became more commonplace. But designs also became much more diverse than previous decades, with quartz watches and automatic chronographs appearing.

    1960's:

Note that these are the watches that say 1960's and 1970's to me now. They are not the watches that said those decades to me when I was living through them. But then, we never recognize the decade we are in until we can look back on it.
