Question Watch servicing in NYC metro area

Hi, I'm not quite sure where to post this as there doesn't seem to be a "watch servicing" sub forum. If there's a better place, just let me know.

I have a Seiko watch that needs a crystal replacement. Since it's a dive watch, it's probably a good idea for it to be pressure tested after the crystal replacement (not sure how they do this, but I suspect there's a special machine used). I live in NJ right next door to Manhattan (I can see it from where I live). There are hundreds of watch servicing places around the city, so it's hard to know what places are worthwhile in terms of quality for the price. I've not found any listed in my area of NJ with enough feedback to be considered.

The three well rated ones I've seen mentioned so far on Yelp are:

    Precision Watch Repair
    (People noted the name Mikhail)
Located in Midtown on W 47th St (5th/6th Ave)

    Greg Watch Repair
Located in Midtown on 578 5th Ave (46th/47th St)

    Watch Station
    (People noted the name Greg)
Located in Midtown on 875 3rd Ave (52nd/53rd St)

If anybody has had their watches serviced at these places, please convey your impressions. Otherwise if you know of worthwhile alternatives, please post. It would be preferable to know about ones who can also do pressure testing.

Sounds like you found them...Good luck.

^ Meaning, you've heard of one or more of these and concur they're worthwhile to use? I know there's plenty of people on WUS who are from the NYC metro area, so I'm anticipating that at least a few people may step forward (if they happen to see this topic, of course).

I'm with you on this one. So much talk on WUS about the factory service centers, but not much on the smaller independent repair operations, despite so many NYC members. I know you guys aren't all taking your beloved timepieces to Tourneau!

Another one I found with decent Yelp reviews is Swiss Watch Repair Center, but I'd like to hear some opinions from the WIS community vs. the Yelpers who get upset about a $20 battery replacement for their Michael Kors watch.

Try Central Watch repair inside Grand Central.

I can tell you that the Omega Boutique on 5th Avenue is totally not worth going to if you plan on having your watch serviced.

Are they open again? I was there a couple of months ago and found the place was all closed up.

I haven't stopped by in a while. It is possible they closed.

*edit* Their web site is up and running.

Yup, noticed that they sold a couple of vintage DateJust models that were still available on their site awhile back. Might have just been shut for renovations or vacation. I know that day I was down there wasn't a holiday.
