    Watch on shirt cuff

I've seen several people lately wearing their watch on the shirt cuff.
I know this was popularized in Italy by former Fiat head Gianni Agnelli (L'Avvocato) but I have never seen someone wear a watch like this until I saw it twice this week! One was a financial planner I met with and the other a bloke at the supermarket.
I am wondering does anyone here wear a watch like this? Some watches do pull at the hair on my wrist but I tend to not buy those!
Do you think this is a stylish look (L'Avvocato is a men's style icon)?
Any thoughts, other than the hair theory, as to why one would wear a watch like this?

Well that surely is different. Do you know how you get the watch in it? Is the end of the cuff open the whole way around and just cut away at the top?
I have yet to see one of those but personally if I wanted to have people notice my watch I would wear it on a normal shirt so you could see the band as well.

    Quote from the patent application

    Abstract
A cuff of a garment having means for displaying a standard wrist watch on the outer surface of the cuff. In a first embodiment, the cuff is provided with a pair of slit apertures through which a standard watch band is inserted. The watch band is secured around the user's wrist in a conventional manner so that only the face of the watch is exposed on the outer surface of the cuff. In a second embodiment, straps are sewn or otherwise secured to the outer surface of the cuff, which straps are then threaded around the watch band retaining pins of a watch and inserted through slit apertures in the cuff. The straps are then secured to the inner surface of the cuff. In yet a further embodiment, straps are secured to the outer surface of the cuff and then threaded around the watch band retaining pins as above. The free ends of the straps are then secured over the attached ends of the straps on the outer surface of the cuff.

Saw it once with a Tag Monaco. I just don't get how it would be tight enough to stay on but not crush my shirt cuff.

It's like wearing your underwear on the outside of your pants.

    Re: Watch on shirt cuff

As for the gentlemen wearing his watch over his shirt sleeve, I can not say I would be likely to follow suit.

As for the "Watch Cuff" product, I would have some reservations about even being seen with a person wearing that type of garment. A watch should be a subtle accessory. A shirt designed to draw attention to or otherwise show off or accomodate your watch seems like a desperate attempt at seeking attention.

Ive never seen that before. If I did, i would probably laugh and make a joke to whoever I was with. I looks ridiculous imo.
