    watch winders

anyone know about them? I have 3 single winders. None put a full wind on the watch, maybe a 50% wind. Is that a good thing? I also have them set to ccw for the eta 2824's, same for the valjoux 7750's.
Should they be wound cw or does it really matter.

    Re: watch winders

I got a cheap winder on Amazon that has 4 different rev/day settings and an automatic CW-CCW mechanism (every other time in spins in the opposite direction). You can use the recommended manufacturer's rev's/day to select the correct setting. Here's the link http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...681294-8403803 and someone did the math for the revs/day: The unit rotates at approximately 6 rotations per minute. Based on this, each mode of operation runs as follows:

    Position A = 344 RPD
    Position B = 864 RPD
    Position C = 1234 RPD
    Position D = 2468 RPD
    RPD (rotations per day)

I can't find the website with all the different watch brands and the recommended winding direction and revs/day.

    Re: watch winders

The big winder company has an extensive database on movements, direction, and now many revolutions are needed. Some movements are bidirectional, most appear to be CW or CCW only. I've had several Chinese Mechanicals that I've tried on the winders that just plain would not wind but were fine when worn. All my Seikos and Swiss movements do fine on the winders (and mine are the plastic $19 ones from Steinmart).

As long as you follow those simple rules - you shouldn't listen to anyone about your watches.
