    Watches with a heritage?

Hello there, this post is an excuse for you all to post your favorite watch pics and maybe a little story to go with it. I’ve always been fascinated by watches but for many years just made do & tossed them when they broke. My “collection” consists of watches earned as service awards or gifts. I’m looking to add a few and I like watches which have a heritage.

    Possible watch additions:
Omega Speedmaster Professional - NASA + Space - gotta love it
Seiko Astron - first quartz watch - some of the new GPS solar dual times are very attractive and I travel a little so the travel & GPS aspect is attractive
Citizen Eco-Drive - first light powered watch

I also really admire the craftsmanship that goes into automatic watches and even seeing it with a Skeleton style.

    Current Watches
Bulova Caravelle Quartz - don’t know the model
Movado Museum Watch Quartz - 87E40863
    Citizen Chronograph Quartz AN3460-56E
    Relic Gunmetal Automatic Skeleton ZR11853
Invicta Automatic Pro Diver 8928OB Gold/Silver with blue face

What would you get? What watches / models have an interesting heritage?

    Go .

    Re: Watches with a heritage?

Reissue of the original 1965 Seiko diver

    SLA017

    Eterna Kontiki reissue

    Oris Sixty-Five reissue

    From Wornandwound

"For the exact opposite of value, but for true excessive watch nerd pleasure, I’ll introduce the Japan-only GW-5000, which is a modern tribute to the very first G-Shock model, the DW5000, which came to market in 1983.

The $325 GW-5000 looks like any $40 “square” G you can buy at Wal-Mart, and that’s its beauty. Only the wearer knows it has a metal case, a DLC’d screwdown caseback, solar and atomic features and a softer resin case and band.

    Is it overpriced? Of course.
Is it awesome in its ridiculousness? Of course.

Non-watch people will think you are an idiot for paying over $300 for a plain G-Shock that you have to order from Japan. But that’s why they are non-watch people."

    GW-5000 DLC

My Celadon Imperial Peacock from Maison Celadon is a Chinese watch inspired by a vintage (uniquely) Chinese dial design from the 60s. Here it is with the inspiration.

Like you mentioned, you have to love and appreciate the history attached to the Speedmaster. I could go on, but you know what I'm talking about.

I also like the Black Bay because it's great modern re-imagining of the classic big crown Tudor/Rolex Submariners. So while it doesn't have ton of heritage itself, the lineage certainly does.

    Kernow and Synequano like this.

Rolex Submariner 114060 • Stowa Antea KS • Seiko SKX007
