That's police/firefighters/paramedics in general because you're almost inevitably going to end up getting blood, piss, ****, spit, semen and god knows what else on it. You don't want something nice, you want something disposable that works reasonably well, hence G-Shocks are (logically) the most common choice.
Mileata watches, a side project of SAS, is an Irish company that is being marketed to police/military. Will be interesting to see if they gain in popularity over there.
With many friends in the forces or ex-forces, it's nearly all G Shocks and what aren't are cheap quartz like Seiko, TImex etc. The three policemen who are based in the same community centre as me (I'm a youth/unemployment/charity worker) have a fake G shock, a Lorus field watch and a Puma sports watch respectively. I imagine Rolexs get pretty scratched up when you’re chasing teen druggies over fences and such.
