    Watchmaker near Knoxville?

Any watchmaker in the Knoxville area someone would suggest? This is a repost of mine; hoping this forum will get more exposure and answers. I don't need a service, I just need the watch opened up and have bands swapped, etc..

No. There's one guy who goes around to the jewelry stores in Knoxville, picks them up, does stuff, and returns them. I couldn't find a single watch shop that even had a demagnetizer in the whole of East Tennessee. I ended up buying my own.

Go to Lamon Jewelers on Kingston Pike just west of the mall on the north side of the road and talk to the oldest guy there. He usually wears a Ball if you want to spot him. I can't remember his name, but he's actually into watches and used to work at Tiffany or Christie's or somewhere like that in NYC. He'd be my first stop if I were trying to build my network in Knoxville. There are a couple of watch nerds working at Markman's on the same road, but they just want to sell you one of their Tags, so I wouldn't recommend them. Kimball's is @#$%ing terrible. They just want to sell you one of their Rolexes, none of which are exactly the cream of the crop.
Guys, I really really really do understand that there was a hack and that my password was reset, but I'm about to take a year off from WUS if you can't stop telling me about it every time I log in. With my password. That you reset.

Just a fun fact; my step mom once knew someone who had a necklace repaired there and when she got it home realized they had replaced some of the diamonds with glass! On another note, have you heard of Don Robbins in Sweetwater? That is who I have been referred to but I'm not so sure....

Oh, I wasn't recommending them for work, only a place to start networking.

I tried to e-mail Don last year and got nothing back. He's supposed to be a Bulova specialist but I don't really know anything about him. The clock repair shop down the hill from Soccertaco recommended him to me and gave me his card.

Plenty of jewelers can unscrew a caseback for you if you don't care about passing a pressure test. Hell, the Dakota kiosk at West Town Mall can pressure test for you. As for changing bands, I'm not sure why you want a watchmaker.

For a modification I honestly think you'd be better off mailing your watch to IWW or MCWW than risking anybody local. There's just not enough of an infrastructure/culture of watches in East Tennessee. If there IS a good watchmaker in the state, he or she is either elderly, out of practice, or recently moved into the area.

Tell me about it. I'd go home to Osaka and live in a refrigerator box under a bridge if I could.

Grass never seems to be greener anywhere you go. Ahh, maybe we will have a watchmaker move in and start a shop! :)

Just searched google and came up with a 1 star review and a 5 star review.. Hmm..
I was told to try Four Winds Jewelers for pressure testing. They told me they'd charge $100 which seems kind of ridiculous.. One of us needs to take up the trade!

    Wow. They're a cash-for-gold place. No thanks, I won't support that.
