    weird seiko skx007 problem

So I just received a new skx007 today and wore it for a couple of hours and it seemed perfect. Then I looked down to check the time as i was reading and noticed the second hand had stopped. I thought this may be due to sitting still for a few minutes so i shook it up and it started again, then stopped again. I noticed the second hand stopped at the 50 second marker. So i shake it again, and then it stops again, this time at 51 seconds. I repeat this process and each time it stops at exactly 1 minute and 1 second after i shake it. It doesn't seem to matter if i shake it 50 times or just nudge the watch, still yields the same result. What could cause something like that? Any help appreciated. Also, i've owned an skx171 for about a year so i'm somewhat familiar with how these things should work, that one never gave me a single problem.

Same thing happened to me on my first monster purchase many years ago. Piece of junk that watch was. Next my skx gained about 1 minute per day. I'm a seiko fan, but I have said this many times before. It's a hit or miss with low budget seikos. I've had a second gen monster that ran cosc specs, but had a piece of lint under the dial.

yes that does seem to be the case with these things. my skx171 is pretty much perfect and i recently got a 2nd gen monster that has been almost as accurate as a quartz for a few days. I guess 2 out of 3 isn't bad.

On another note, does anyone know of a consistent retailer for these watches? Amazon tends to be a gamble depending on the seller, and the seller i got my other 2 from doesn't have any 007s.

No matter where you buy it from there is an element of risk so you might as well take advantage of Amazon's excellent returns policy.
