What Aspect of Cheap Watches bothers you the Most?

Well, bother might be a strong idea but you get the idea. I had a Tag Aquaracer, and arguably the part I liked most about it was the strap! I knew nothing about watches and had a friend tell me that his Invicta Pro Diver was $800 .

I love the Aquaracer and Tag Formula 1 but need to get something more in the 3-500 range. From my research, Citizen and Tissot seem like decent bets. When a purist sees a lower brand watch what part of it do you dislike the most? The fact that it is poorly/cheaply made, that the person is trying to portray something it is not? Can you tell more about quality of watch from the strap or watch face?

watches are personal, wear what you like. if someone is a snob, let them be one and move along and be happy with yourself.

Do we have a dollar amount as to what is "cheap" or do I pick an amount myself and go from there? If the latter, answers/posts could be even more interesting than you were hoping . . .

They're too easy to buy? Can't really think of anything else tbh.

When I think cheap I think MVMT or Michael Kors. I wouldn’t put Seiko,Citizen or Tissot in that category

I think it's like anything else that involves craftsmanship. Well made watches FEEL good. I do not know how to put it into words exactly, but you can tell when looking at the fine details that someone put thought and care into the design, manufacture, and assembly of a nice watch. The same is true of furniture, art, even food.

G-SHOCKS are inexpensive, but not cheaply made. So, more context is required.

Not much about cheaper watches bother me, mainly because my expectations are lower. Often cheaper watches exceed expectations while it's the more expensive watches that disappoint by failing to be better for the price.

If your friend pretends to have paid more than he did, I'd say the fault is with your friend, not the watch.

When I think cheap I think poorly made with crudely made or inexpensive mass-produced parts. To me, that's different than inexpensive, which can still be high quality. An example would be Orient, which I would classify as inexpensive. Cheap would be a no-name plastic Chinese made watch under $10.
