    What Is This Called?

I saw this gorgeous Omega and was curious what this type of watch is called. I'm very new to the watch world but I think this watch is fantastic. Thanks! Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1357263220.105209.jpg

    A chronograph??

Edit: Sorry... a chronograph with ugly lugs (those things the strap is attached to - no, it's not a 'band')

Beautiful watch just ruined by those lugs. Even if it is somehow historically accurate, there's a reason they don't make em like that anymore.

I assumed that was part of the strap. Anyhow, the dial is awesome looking to me.

Wasn't sure if the other markings , etc.. Besides the sub dials made it anything else. Thanks for the reply anyway; I personally think the watch is very cool.

The dial is, but the case kills it!

That type of watch is called a "chronograph". The center second hand and the
30-minute sub-dial on the right are used to record the time between two events
The scale around the center is called a "tachymeter" scale. As you can see the
scale around the edge of the dial is called a "telemeter" scale.

    Thanks,
