I think it depends on the piece! If its a classic dresser (not BIG), than normally it has a smaller bracelet and looks classy. Other than that leather is the way to go (or should I say skin, alligator, shark, etc!!) A large watch on a bracelet with a tuxedo just ain't happening Unless your 007!!!!

Yeah, it really depends on the watch, thin bracelets can look dressier than leather.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with your front end. Oversteer is when you hit the wall with your rear end. Horsepower is how hard you hit the wall. Torque is how far you move the wall.

Leather. It'll even make an inexpensive watch look classy.

I've always been taught that for suit & tie formal occasions it's poor form to wear a watch without a metal bracelet.

Never heard that before, and if I did, I would have to disagree. Although I prefer bracelet, for formal suit and tie occasion a classic watch with leather matching your other accessories (shoes, belt) is the way to go. Usually people wear bracelet because it is easier and you don't need to worry about having a black shoes and brown strap on your watch. Saying that, as a rebel, I tend to wear my JSAR on bracelet for most of my suit and tie outings. It leads to some interesting conversations in a crowd of Omega and Rolex wearers.

Like most of these "Which?" questions, I think it's entirely subjective. I also agree that it depends to some degree on the watch, because to me, some watches look wrong on a strap. Aside from those (and of course, that's subjective, too) what one person considers "dressy", another may consider crass.

I think leather looks more dressy but that's not too say any watch with a leather band is a dress watch.

Contrast stitching in a leather strap is less dressy.... & so are "tool" straps.
