What is a Good Watch to Buy? Tissot? Montblanc? Omega?

    Hello Experts,

I am really confused. I am planning to buy a Montblanc Star Automatic watch and almost had made up my mind when I started looking closely at other brands on JomaShop and now I am so confused.

I am a petite person, so large watch doesn't really works for me. I only like watches that have deployment clasp. I would prefer to have skeleton back casing, which looks rather cool. Tissot is the lowest range in price while Omega is the highest. Tissot is $428, Montblanc is $2275 and Omega is $2895. While Tissot is the cheapest, it is the largest 39.5mm almost 40. Montblanc is 39mm and Omega is 38.5mm. It really doesn't seem to make a difference to you but these size can mean alot to me being petite.

Please advise if which watch is a great buy?

    Tissot T065.430.11.051.00

    Omega 424.10.37.20.01.001

Those are all decent, or better, Swiss brands. You're right that the Tissot is lower cost, but it's still a decent watch. If you budget is at the Tissot range, then it's a good choice, though not the only one. Omega is a good, safe bet and well respected. To me, Montblanc is the tricky one.

Montblanc isn't primarily known for luxury watches, but they have made a big investment in becoming a substantial, upmarket brand. I wouldn't be afraid to buy one, but I'd have to become a bit more knowledgeable about which models/years have the best quality for the price. I don't have that problem with Omega.

The Omega is 36.8, has the "best" movement and is -arguably- the best finished of the lot. It has a little more name recognition than the others.
The MB has very good finishing but the movement is more common - but very good quality- basically the same as the Tissot
The Tissot is a good watch, and an excellent watch for the money. Nothing 'superlative" but still something you should be able to wear for many years.

They all tell time very well but not as well as a quartz movement watch. They all will depreciate rapidly the minute you put them on, like any watch, so none is a "great buy" in the traditional sense of the phrase.
If you are concerned most with money, get the Tissot.
If you are concerned most with style, get the Mont Blanc.
If you are concerned most with quality, get the Omega.

But all three are good looking, quality watches that offer reasonable value in their respective classes.

Am I correct to assume this is your first watch?

If so, then get the Tissot, because it's the most affordable and all three are very similar it styling and size. I'm not saying they're the same watch, because they're not, but from a watch layman's eyes they might as well be. At this price level none of these watches will retain their value. Should you decide to upgrade your watch in the future, you will lose a lot less flipping the Tissot than you would the Omega or the Montblanc. If you never buy another watch again, the Tissot will serve you well for years and years. Either way, no sense in sinking more money than necessarily if you're just starting out.

sweet seiko drive-by dude! just what he was asking for!

of the three, i'd go with the montblanc. those hands separate the MB from the other two.

To start you have chosen two good companies Swatch (omega, tissot) and richemont (MontBlanc). That being said both the omega and tissot use an eta movement while MontBlanc uses its own in house movement. yea i know omega put their watchmakers on this watch also but it is a modified ETA. MonteBlanc's movement is a little smoother. I would say stick with the MontBlanc. also note the crown is larger and easier to use on the Montblanc. If you don't believe me and can go to a watch dealer that carries both MontBlanc and an ETA watch listen to them and tell me what you think i like the heartbeat of the MontBlanc.

I have that Tissot Automatics Iii and I love it. It is a fine watch, although the Tissot brand is little sister to Omega. If brand recognition is important to you, it is most likey that lay-people will know Omega. Otherwise, choose the watch that tickles you the most. All three are quality lifetime pieces!

    Cheers
