What is the ideal watch size for a 4.25 inch wrist?

    Hi folks!

Need some help with watch size. I am male, 5'10", very lanky and have a 4.25 inch wrist. I am wrist challenged!

I have always worn the typical Casio $12 plastic beater type watch without much thought.

I recently received a Seiko Recraft SNKP27 as a gift. Love the watch and its' green retro dial.

My G/F says wear what you like and ignore what others think.

Need some expert help/opinions with this watch and in general, what would be the ideal watch size for me since most men's watches start at about 38 to 40mm?

    Thanks in advance!

Hamilton Khaki Field quartz - 33mm - my wife wears one and its awesome
Tudor Black Bay 32mm - very classy
Vintage Rolex Oyster Royal Boys Size (30mm, short lugs)
True military issue G10 watch (30mm)

edit: Having read the subsequent posts and given a thought to the maths - I reckon ur taking the mick!

If you like the Recraft, just find a band that fits tightly to keep it from wobbling around. For lighter watches, I'm partial to Perlons. For heavier watches, I like either a well-fitting leather or velcro.

If you're looking for other watches, you can look vintage. Mid-century sizes were in the 30mm range. My rule is if it was a man's watch when new, it can be a man's watch forever.

This one's a 1961 Bulova Royal Clipper on 7.5" wrist.

I call shenanigans. You're 5'10" with 4 1/4" wrist, unless you have some physical deformity you are either mis-measuring (should be circumference, not diameter) or trolling. How could I know? I just measured my (nearly 21 month old) daughter's wrists. She comes in at 4 1/2" (closest to the hand) [remeasured her hand just now]

Edit - she is in about the high 50th percentile for height and weight which pretty much means she is appropriately sized for her age, right in the middle of the curve

I agree with your gf. Rules are only a general guideline but there are exceptions. There’s a few categories where you can do whatever and I believe you fall into one of them.

If you are 6’3 ideal specimen super model and carry yourself with confidence. You can literally get away with wearing whatever you want.

You can also get away with a lot. You are an extreme outlier and since there’s probably no product designed specifically for you that isn’t a women’s watch, I think you either wear no watch which isn’t an option I am assuming, or you wear what other small wristers wear which would be 34-38 mm or 36-38. Or you can rock vintage 33mm. I think anything works. Or wear an Apple Watch or smart watch. Smart watches tend to ignore sizes because they need the big display or watch would be unusable.

Perhaps good idea for OP to post a pic of himself wearing his watch here or in thei show off your tiny wrist thread...?

Yeah, I'm wondering if there is some mis-measuring going on here.

Something is off. It would be better if you can post a picture wearing a watch you already have so all of us can get some perspective.

That said the entry size Nomos watches will look alright (35mm ish) and there are quite a few new releases in the 36mm category which should all wear a bit large but still look alright, like the Tudor BB 36 and Rado Captain cook LE.

Just to lend some perspective, if my calculations are correct a wrist with a circumference of 4.25” would be roughly the same size around as a 35mm dial.

I’m thinking somethings off in the measurement.
