A pre-owned stainless steel Master Control should be within your budget. Nice classic looks.

Is it a good investment? - probably not. JLC residuals are not particularly good, although they will still make good heirloom items of desire and worth. However if you buy pre-owned, you should take less of a hit should you need to sell it on again. Look to the Rolex steel professional oyster range if you want high resale value.

Jaeger-LeCoultre is arguably in the top tier of manufactures in the world today. Although their separate origins can be traced to the mid-1800s, and they produced iconic models from the 1930s to the 1950s, some say they came into their own in the early 1990s with the consolidation of the two names in NA and introduction of the 1000 Hours Control series. All new JLC models are highly desirable and they supply ebauches and complete movements to other top houses.

JLC has built itself on the reverso, the reverso is the only way to go imo.
    Collection:
    Vacheron Constantin Overseas
    JLC Deep Sea Chrono
    Breguet Marine Grande Date
    Tudor Black Bay Black
    Omega Speedmaster 3570.50

I think it won't so easy to find even a good used example of that within the OP's budget.
