What role does quartz play in your collection?

    Functional tool or beater?
My resin G Shocks fulfill that role.

    A versatile grab and go?
For sure, my gmw-b5000 was bought with this in mind.

    A multi functional travel watch?
An Oceanus ocw-s100 is on its way.

Luxury fit and finish for a fraction of the price?
    Yup, GS.

Interesting innovations and functionality at a price where automatics can only offer the same old ETA, Sellita, Miyota, Seiko, etc. movements?
Again GS, along with Longines and even the Oceanus for me.

    Superior accuracy?
All, from my cheapest G Shock to my favorite HAQ's.

What about you? I have noticed my collection shifting more towards quartz (I love both autos and quartz equally, they are not binary opposites in my world), and I was curious what role quartz plays in your collection?

For me, quartz is generally reserved for my weekend beater. It's much easier to pick up my Timex Q on a Saturday morning to run errands than it is to set one of my autos.

Definitely a beater. I have a few Casios that I love...though I am in the market for a 9F Grand Seiko. I just love the finish and the grow their own crystals!

    none.

I have a solar, radio controlled Casio Waveceptor on a table near the window. Never worn, so I don't even consider it part of the collection. It's the reference clock I use to set my mechanicals.

Quartz makes about 1/3 of my collection but I wouldn’t say that it fulfills any particular role.
