    What Watch for Outdoorsman?

My uncle is in need of a digital watch that can handle his needs. He's an avid outdoorsman, so he is always shooting firearms, in the woods, and putting his watch in tough conditions. He has a Casio G-Shock DW-6900MS and is happy with it besides the fact that he claims it is difficult to read the time because of the red lighting the military version uses. He likes the all black look of the watch, but dislikes the ability to easily read the time in certain lighting conditions. Is there a similar watch under $200 that has the same looks as his current G-Shock, but is much easier to read in any condition?

What would be your watch suggestion for an avid outdoorsman that puts his watch through hell?

I use my Casio Pathfinder and my Suunto for my life out in the wild. Pretty rugged and some really neat features for outdoorsy activities.

Agree. These and G Shocks are designed for purpose.

I would look at analog displays rather than digital. Many people find it faster to read for a quick time reference if not for precision.

    G-Shock

Edit - apologies I just saw he already has a G-Shock and finds it hard to read. I'll try and think of another...

For a digital watch with the features of a G-Shock but superior legibility, try the Timex Ironman Shock. Timex's digital modules are significantly more user-friendly and readable than Casio's. This particular Timex was $33 at Wal-mart when I bought it last winter.

Thank you all for the suggestions, thus far. I will share them with my uncle.

In the mean time, if you have any other suggestions, keep them coming.
