We're always talking about how the hands look on a watch but second hands get second hand treatment.

What do you think are the best or most interesting second hands?

Here's a few that I like:

I prefer seconds hands with a nicely designed counter weight, otherwise they just look top heavy to me.
I think, to a degree, I agree.

I think it looks much nicer when the centre pinion is capped and doesn't show the hole which looks ugly and unfinished to me by comparison. For example, this:

As opposed to this:

You're right, the capped center does give it a nice finished look. I wonder if there's any difference with the second hand staying on?

I like the red tipped second hand on the Hamilton Khaki 38 and the Timex Waterbury.
The lightning bolt on the Milgauss.
The blued second hand on the JLC and Montblanc dress watches.
The arrow on Timex Expeditions.
The second hand on the Sub and Explorer whatever its called.

Of the many I've owned, here're a few that come to mind.
Always thought the Ingenieur second hand looked cool.

Always loved the overall shape of the Aqua Terra hand.

Some of the Mark's are quite elegant.

And as others have said, that B anchor is pretty damn cool.
