If you have to choose between let's say 6 Cool micro brand watches or only 1 Omega planet ocean Or Rolex submariner What would you choose?

Thats an interesting question, it all depends on the watches. In my opinion, a true Wis would take the watches that he enjoys for either looks, quality or the functions.

Well I guess it depends on the watches. Being WIS or not personally I would go to the pieces I like, despite the brands.

It depends on the micro brands. I'm not really a big fan of many of these boutique brands who simply buy a case and throw in a movement. So I'd probably take the Omega...as long as someone is giving me the watches and the choice. This is all theoretical though -- my watch budget is pretty limited.

so let me get this straight.......6 micro brands being?? I shall assume the standard high street tack....so it's an easy choice. I would have an Omega or a Rolex.

Probably the Omega. I really like the Planet Ocean a lot and have wanted one for years, so that's a big temptation on its own. As for the 6 pack of micro brand watches, I'd have to see what they are; I've seen way too many generic looking things to blindly say I'd choose the small company product over the big brand. Omega and Rolex are huge sellers in large part because they make really good watches. Silly to ignore that just because they're huge.

Question is do you go for quality or quantity? Once you have answer for that question you already know what you need to do.

I would go for quality. Pick the one quality watch you really love.
P.O. and Sub are great choices. There are others as well. Buy for the long run.

(speaking for myself, as someone who enjoys wearing a fine watch, rather than some mythical, stereotypical "WIS" character)

Re: What would a real WIS do?

I think it would depend on which micros they were, as well as what I would be looking for at that moment.
    BTW, good question.

Re: What would a real WIS do?

The answer really depends on the watches. The styling, features and fit are primary considerations and the brand is secondary I don't just go looking for a Rolex, Mido, Omega, IWC, Seiko, or Oris watch.
