What are your favorite watches to wind?

Some people prefer watches that are "buttery-smooth" to wind; others love super-clicky winding (I'm team clicky).

Do you prefer onion crowns? those "crowns" on FPJ's?

I'm interested to hear what you guys like. It never really was a thought until I got to wind a Voutilainen. Those have a pocket watch feel to them, and I adore that.
It's easy to know all the modern reference numbers, but having an eye for vintage pieces is a completely different skill in its own right.

I love the robust feel of the 6497 / OP XI and the Panerai crown guard lever makes it extra special.

I get no pleasure whatsoever from winding a watch. I had to do it out of necessity for so many years that the action gives me no joy now I’m older.

My favorite: This Alpina, hands down. Buttery smooth and, with the addition of that oversized cog-wheel, provides comfy leverage with every turn.
Thank you, I'm flattered, but, please don't click any "Likes" for me (unless there's a prize for "most likes")?

Interesting. Of my watches, the Panerai is my least favorite to wind. I find the P.9100 movement to have a sort of gritty feeling when winding, and the crown guard, despite being one of my favorite features of the watch, is bothersome when winding.

I love the crown/winding on my GMT-IIc, but the smoothness of the Glashutte is by far my favorite.

Try the P3000 movement it is a joy, so silky smooth, better than my JLC even.

It has to be this one, but its probably because it is a manual wind and it was my first real watch.
Winding an automatic just does not have the same feel as a manual wind.

JLC reverso is one that I love to wind as it's buttery smooth

The other is manually cranking my Rolexes, wonderful mix of smoothness but more than that is how nicely it's damped

Agreed. This watch is easy and fun to wind. It is also the quintessential field watch. Hamilton hit it out of the park with this one. This is the best value in watches I have ever seen.
