    What's with the behemoth watches?

I don't get it. These 50mm+ diameter by 20mm thick monstrous watches that look like designer desk clocks. Why would you want to wear that on your wrist? They're absurd.

Somebody please explain it to me.

Because a Tuna spring drive has no lugs and it fits ok on my puny 6.25" wrist. It's all about lug to lug not case diameter. I thought we worked it out in the other thread.

    2 reasons:
    1) You have behemoth wrists. I have a 6.5" wrist and like 38-40mm watches. But I have friends whose wrists are same size as my calves. 50mm may be pushing it, butfor some of them 44-48mm is a sweetspot. Granted - these guys are wrestlers and such wrists are exceptions rather than the rule for majority of people. More commonly - lots of over-weight people out there with big wrists...
    2) Peacocking. Some people want their wrist jewelry to be noticed from 50 yards away. 50mm gold-plated (or bejeweled) watch is a perfect tool for that scenario.

I have 8" wrists. I have watches fro 34mm to 44mm. 37mm to 40mm is my sweet spot. I can't explain the dinner plate watch trend to you. I myself am migrating toward thinner, lighter watches on straps.

Sometimes the measurements can be deceiving. 50mm is definitely in a different league but I'm wearing a 44mm on my 6.5 wrist and it wears much smaller.

Some people have bad eyesight and a 50mm watch may be easier for them to read.
Others may just like a large design to go with their oversized pants?

Not sure about the thickness, maybe some watch designs just need that extra space.

    Look at it this way...

If fashion/style choices were easy to explain and universally accepted; there would be no style or fashion choices. There would simply be.....

    Conformity.

Lol, so don't question the big-watch craze....embrace it! It's very existence allows you to have a preference for "normal" sized watches.
