What's going on with my watch?

I have an older Invicta 8926 with Miyota movement. It ran great for several months with +2 seconds per day accuracy! Then one day it just stopped. It was running fine, took it off, went to bed, and woke up to find the watch completely stopped. I thought it just needed winding. I shook it, manually wind it to no avail.

I took it as a learning experience and put the watch away in a drawer and forgot about it. Yesterday I was doing some cleaning and found the watch again. To my big surprise, it started running again! I winded it up and it's running about 15 minutes slow after a full day.

What the heck was wrong with my watch? Was it magnetized? Can someone give me an idea or an educated guess to what had happened?

Magnetized watches generally run fast. Yours probably just needs a service.

It sounds like your watch needs serviced. You'll have to decide if the watch is worth the expense to service. Wearing it a lot at this point could conceivably make repairs more expensive.

Now the watch is running fast. It gained 20 seconds in the past 12 hours. It's so strange.

Can a watch simply seize up and stop when exposed to magnetism; and start up again once it slowly loses magnetism kinda like magnetized tipped screw drivers?

I am thinking my watch was magnetized. I used to have an old-fashioned analog clock radio with a relatively large speaker that was by my bedside near where I usually put my watch.

I am not sure the cost of service would be justified considering the price of the watch.

I'm thinking just one of those crazy things that Invicta watches are famous for.......IMHO

I'm surprised that this thread hasn't had more answers.

You said it. Plus their reputation around CS suggests you would be waiting a pretty long time for a satisfactory conclusion.
