Are white dials on sports watches (divers, chronos) too dressy? Should sport watches stick to black?

So, I've seen a random youtube video today where the person states that white dials should typically stick to dress watches and that sport watches should typically have a black or blue dial. I've never really thought of it that way before -- what does the community here think? I was on the fence of buying this white diver but now I'm wondering if it's too 'dressy' due to it being a white dial.
    What do you think?

Imho "sport watch" isn't defined by the color of the dial. There is a drawback to the Chr. Ward model you provided though, and that is the lack of contrast between the hands and the face. Above all a sport watch has to be practical, and legibility is at the top of that list along with durability. The Rolex E-IIs are good examples of how to pull this off.

It's all based on your personal preference, I don't think either one looks more dressy.

Just switch to another youtube video and forget about the nonsense you just followed.

I think it depends on the watch. White can be both dressy and casual. With my older eyes, 70+, black on a white dial is easier to read now.

Yes, absolutely!!! Vacheron & Rolex have asked me to round up their white dial Explorer and Overseas watches. PM me for the address for proper disposal.

Never heard of an orange dial diver (proven easiest color for reading underwater)? Ever see an absolutely stunning blue dial dress watch? The guy you were watching is clueless and his video is useless. Think for yourself and let your common sense do it's thing.

It doesn't really matter, the dial design comes first.

I dislike dials that arent dark. Black or blue for me. I own one that isnt dark and hardly wear it.
