    White/SS and gold dressers. Opinions?

Want/need dress watch(es). Lucky enough to have wife, wallet willing to go for both a white gold / SS and a yellow (not rose, I think) gold one, if necessary. White /SS is my preference. YG is my wife's.

6.75" wrist, 55 y/o. I love simplicity. Because I wear black, gray, navy, it will wear a black strap.

White / SS: love JLC. Attracted to the MC 38 and 41, MUT Jubilee, Grand Feu. Opinions?

I think the above would satisfy me. My wife (gotta love her) wants me to (also) get the VC 40mm Patrimony or, her real favorite, the 35 mm 1955 Historic. No, she doesn't have a sister.

I'm just sort of looking for opinions, insights re
    -- WG/SS/YG (might I like RG?)
    -- Size, style
-- Do I need a YG dress watch?

    TIA

Rose gold is currently in vogue, and it typically suits a wider range of skin tones than yellow gold.

It's worth noting that white gold may need periodic rhodium plating, as it is not truly white. Stainless steel is superior in that it is harder and it is truly white. Plus, to the untrained eye, white gold looks like stainless steel anyway. I've heard stories of people having their white gold watches mistaken for less expensive stainless steel.

Finally, no, you do not need a gold dress watch.

    Skin tones ... Hadn't thought about that. I'll take a look ... However ...

Think I feel the same about the YG. Something just says to me that a dresser ought to be YG, but I don't really care. I hope the JLC will satisfy ... her. I think it will me.

Hope to see all 3 JLCs in person in a few weeks.

    Thanks.

They're fabulous watches! You really can't go wrong. They're both currently out of my price range but I've been fortunate enough to be able to handle both JLC and a VC in person, the quality of the finish is really breathtaking.

That is the real question I have. Is a nice JLC in ss ok as my only dress watch?
    Thanks.

I would be inclined to give the white gold a miss too as it looks too much like stainless steel and is a lot less robust than steel.

Tending to agree ... The MUT 41 is affordable @ $9,000 list, IIRC.
Wish I didn't live in the boondocks do I could easily handle them ...

Unless it is high end the plating process on most tend to wear off in a short time.

They look nice, but I still prefer SS.

I have a rose gold dress watch & don't get to wear it very much because I work in a casual environment. Rose or yellow gold work with a suit or dressy casual, but frankly I'd rather have a white gold watch I can wear all the time. As for steel vs white gold, if the model you want comes in both materials, I'd opt for steel. Unfortunately that's not the case with high end brands like Patek and Lange.
