Why are always modding the same watches?

Yes! There are many watches that can be modded, beside the Invicta 8926 or the Seiko SNK, SKX etc.Name: Alpha Classic AC-205, Lefty mod, Sandwich dial, NATO Khaki band..png

SNZ modded by NEWW with Dagaz parts. Typical Seiko mod. I thought it fitting considering the rocky terrain.

Sure you can mod other watches, but you just don't have as many choices as you do with an enormously popular watch for modding like the SKX. There are loads of choices out there to replace the bezel, insert, crystal, chapter ring, dial, and hands. The SKX has at least three different options for fixed bezels alone, and you're just not going to find that for other models. Of course Seiko automatic hands are all pretty much interchangeable (not sure about putting GS hands on a regular Seiko...not that you can get them anywhere anyway) but otherwise 8L35 hands fit on a 7S26 and vice versa, and SKX dials will fit in any of Seikos 28.5mm watches, particularly if you remove the feet.

As a base platform though, the SKX and the various SNKs are tough to beat. Here's my SKX, and the SBDX001 Marine Master dial just came in for my second Seiko mod.

It's all about parts availability...popular watches will have more available parts in comparison to unpopular ones...

It's like the story of why barns are always painted red --

Ask farmers why they always use red paint for their barns, and they say, "Because it's the cheapest paint at the store." Ask the store owner why the paint is priced so cheap and he says, "Because everybody buys it."

    (*car analogy warning*)

Further than that, I'll bet that it's like why there is such a robust modding community around Ford Mustangs and Honda Civics. It's because they're relatively inexpensive (so you're not risking a huge investment if you screw up), they run fine, and there's enough of them that people want to stand out a bit and express themselves.

Back in Sweden farmers would paint their barns in a specific red "Falu-red", a slightly darker red. This was allegedly due to from afar it would look like a more expensive red brick house rather than a cheap plank-building...

It is way easier to mod watches that are popular because their parts can easily be available although i have never modded any of my watch.
