Why Didn't You Pull The Trigger?

Walked into my local Tudor AD and looked hard at the Black Bay. Beautiful watch that I seriously considered buying for some time. I understand that it has a vintage inspired look and that may be the reason it has no date display. But that was the reason I did not buy the watch.

So my question is which watch were you close to buying but chose not to pull the trigger. Post a pic if possible.

A couple, the Yachtmaster because of the date and the cyclops (double whammy for me) and the GP cause it just seemed a bit too large (I wish they made it in the smaller size instead of XXL, maybe next year) . . . .

Size is usually the killer for me, but excluding that...the JLC Reverso Grande Taille:

Sizewise it's the perfect Reverso for me, but I don't want a small seconds dial on my Reverso. Best of both worlds is a Classique in a Grande Taille case.

I do believe I'd put up with cyclopes at 3, 6 and 9 if it meant I could own that Yatchmaster. It's probably the only watch which exceeds my price & class-o-meter limits that I'd consider owning.

Re: Why Didn't You Pull The Trigger?

I was in love with this watch, from looking at youtube videos, endless pictures, reviews etc. When I tried it on, two things jumped out at me:

It was too small for my wrist

    Oh dear Lord the reflections!

It's usually when I'm kicking the tires and can't really afford it, waiting for the wife to finish coffee, and they offer 0% credit (I've done it before, twice), then she walks in and says she's ready to go.

Unhappy Re: Why Didn't You Pull The Trigger?

    Too big and too blingy.

The Cuervos y Sobrinos Torpedo Pulsometro Chronograph looked appealing in the magazines however, when I had one sitting in front of me it just seemed garishly over the top.

That's the ONLY reason that held me back from also purchasing the BB. No date.

I've always said a black date at 6 o'clock would look bad ass

Re: Why Didn't You Pull The Trigger?

I was in an AD ready to buy the Omega Speedmaster Racing. The pictures on the web and videos on youtube plus reading all about it convinced me (interestingly I wanted this iteration of the Speedmaster instead of the moonwatch because I prefer my watches to have a date function). But when I saw it in person my opinion changed. I thought it looked gimmicky and like a toy. So I didn't buy.

Re: Why Didn't You Pull The Trigger?

Finally got to try on a no date LLD.

Beautiful watch that didn't thrill me on the wrist.

I guess the hands did not have enough presence; for me.
