Why does my minute hand not synchronize with my second hand?

I just bought a new watch, and the minute hand does not hit a new minute until the second hand gets to 15-20 seconds. This is my first watch with actual hours, minutes, and seconds printed on it. I have always owned divers before this watch.

Is this normal. I cant seem to time it right.

A bit of slack most likely.

It is a Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic Chronograph. Therefore I beleive the movement is a ETA 7750.

So it sounds like there might be slack in the threads because of the backlash (I am a Jeep guy also so understand this concept). IN addition, since my movement is a 7750, I should be setting the time anti-clockwise.

But what does that mean? They way I usually set my watches (like my Seiko divers) is to get the date and day set before the current dte and day. Then wind the watch until the day and date flip over to the current day and date. This now means I am in the AM of the current day. Then I set the time from there.

How do I set the time "anti-clockwise?"

The average 7750 has about half a minute worth of backlash.

When setting the time, overshoot the correct time by about five to ten minutes, then back-up to the correct minute.

I'm really picky about this too, so I always go about 5 minutes past then wind back to the correct time. I'm not sure if this is how I should do it, but it's spot on every time.
