    Why Seiko?

hi everyone, I'm new into the world of watches and been lurking in this site for a while. it seems that everyone here loves Seiko so much. every time I see a thread especially asking for recommendations especially for affordable watches, seiko will always be mentioned. my question is, why? what is so special about it? isn't there any other better brand than seiko? especially for affordable models, there's always better swiss-made watches in the price range like Tissot, right? so again, why Seiko? by the way, I'm asking about Seiko's lower-end models (the affordable ones) not like Grand Seiko or anything. I understand Grand Seiko is on its own level and is a piece of beauty, but I don't see the lower-end models as anything special at all. I don't mean to offend anyone who loves seiko by any means. I'm just curious of why you like the lower-end model Seiko so much other than its affordable price. thanks :)

Good value for money. Generally reliable/consistent quality. Huge range of models and designs to choose from with a range of movement types and materials.

Simply availability at a price. Not many Swiss watches under £400 on account of the expense of ETA (or other Swiss) movements. I chose the Tissot visodate over a seiko sarb after a landslide victory on a poll I posted here once, so Seiko doesn't always win. They just have so many affordable options. At 1k+ though there is much more choice from other brands too.

Also their classic, simple designs seem to appeal, to me at least.

They are a big corporation, and just provide too many options in the affordable price ranges. Some of those options are bound to be favorable with an onlooker. They work fine without expensive (or any) maintenance needs. Also because genuine Seiko watches are easily available online and you don't need to go to a watch dealer to get one. Let me tell you that I do agree with you to some extent, and have always found the Swiss and boutique watches at $400-600 favorable to their Seiko counterparts.

Seiko is so large that the puzzling moments are when the list of possible answers to a question doesn't include one Seiko
