will you put hands w/o lume in a lummed dial ?

    Hi,

changing the hands in this watch, I'm putting some Dauphine style hands.
Bought couple sets, but the ones I like the most are without lume.

Would be very bad to put hands w/o lume to a lummed dial?

any way I can 'de-lume' it?

Was thinking of painting a black dot on top of the lume but don't even know what kind of paint should I use, any better idea!?

    thanks in advance.

Given your watchmaking skills (that is, you can do it yourself rather than sending off to a watchmaker), I'd wait and find hands with lume.

I'm really interested to see the result! I've always felt the only thing letting this watch down was the hands (and maybe lack of AR coating)

agreed, I like the second hand, but minute and hour hands are a big miss in that watch..
Other than that is a great looking watch, the case and bracelet are very nice with a symmetric feel which I like a lot.
I have few sets of Dauphine hands on the way, with and w/o lume.
I'll post the result once is done!

I must be missing something, the watch dial in the picture is not lumed except for the lume dot hour markers.

yes, that's the lume I'm talking about, the little square dots on the outside o the chapter ring, which seems to be 'built-in' in the dial.
Honestly I'd rather de-lume the watch and put hands w/o lume..

It would look silly without lumed hands IMHO.

But hey, if you don't think you will be looking at your watch often at night, why not? Try it out and if you don't like the look of it, you can always put different hands.

I would use lumed hands however the question is whetehr you can get the lumed hand with the same brightness and hue of the lume markers on the dial.

I love my very easy to read Junkers pilot Cockpit JU 52, but was peeved to realize, after I purchased it, that the hands are not lumed. Now what, I ask, is the point of lumed numbers if you can't see the hands? This has to be a design error. Absolutely my fault for not researching this, and asking the appropriate questions, but really? Name: IMGjun.mesh_1944.jpg

No wonder you're late. Why, this watch is exactly two days slow. Mad Hatter Alice in Wonderland

Funny you are asking this question because on my side I have a watch that simply does not lume enough and I am about to embark on a mission to lume it with watch lume paint . My only concern is if the paint will be as good as they say it .
