    William Gibson on collecting watches

Don't know if anyone here is a fellow gibson fan but he wrote a great article some years back on collecting mechanical watches, which he mentions in his writing regularly as well

    Hi -

    Thanks for the link!

Gibson oftens mentions in his novels watches as a small detail to round out a charachter, like the Rolex on a pale leather strap worn by the psychotherapist/call girl in Count Zero who helped one of the main charachters get to know the new parts of his body when he was blown up and repaired...

I am a huge Gibson fan … currently in the process of reading the bridge trilogy backwards (don’t ask). I am not going to repeat what I already said so …

If you put ‘Gibson’ into the search field here it should all come up:

    These are the main ones:

    The watches in ATP

The Friday Thread, now with snow

If you put words like ‘Jaeger’, ‘wristwatch’, etc, into the ‘Find’ field here, you will find lots of interesting details

I remember reading this in Wired magazine (see above link) around '99, before I was ever into watches. Even before I understood the "Tamagotchi Gesture", this was a great article!
