Winding mechanism not moving? Seiko Orange Monster

    #SRP309K1

Just got a 2nd gen OM in.
The movement starts when I shake the watch a bit, but I cannot pull the winder outward, nor wind it in clock or counter-clock wise movement.

I even used pliers/napkin to try and turn it, but it's stuck.

    Seems bad. Time for repair?

edit: i know you're not customer service, but i'm a bit worried :O

You can't use the crown to wind up any OM (7S26), shaking is the only option. no need to worry.

Seiko 7s26: How long do you need to shake the watch to wind it? A watch winding experiment.

Something not in the manual: you must unscrew a bit until you are able to pop it out for date, then pop out again for minute hand change

edit: my 2nd gen OM is automatic with manual wind. had to unscrew the crown to be able to wind and change time/day. Seiko has interesting dynamics

It is a dive watch with a 200m depth rating. The crown is threaded so that it mat be screwed down tight against the case to improve water resistance. As you found the crown must unscrewed to set the time and date. The crown can't be used to wind the movement however.

As long as the crown can not be pulled, you can not perform any winding action.

And you are right, second generation Seiko Monster movement can be manually wound. It is 4R36 movement.
