Winner: Timeless Watch of the Year 2015

Timeless Watch of the Year 2015

Thanks WUS community for participating! WUS members could nominate as many as 4 different watches and any watch that received 3 or more nominations made it into the final vote. We did not participate in the final vote.

From all of the watches released in 2015, 49 models received support in the nomination process. Of those, only 13 made it into the final vote. Because this process is entirely driven by enthusiasts, we think that even getting that far is an accomplishment.

    Those 13 nominees were:

    Tudor North Flag
    Omega Globemaster
    Nomos Minimatik
    GO Senator Observer
    Rolex Day Date
    Zenith Elite 6150
    GO Sixties Iconic
    Rolex Yacht-Master
    Tudor Black Bay Black
    Zenith Classic Chronograph
    Rolex Oyster Perpetual
    Oris Sixty-Five
    Ressence Type 5

    #1: Tudor Black Bay Black

The Black Bay Black (see our review here) added a new look to the brand's most popular watch for 2015, now with a black bezel and gold accents, strongly reminiscent of the Only Watch 2015 model Tudor submitted, which also received a very positive reception. The fact that the Black Bay Black took the #1 spot by a wide margin with only aesthetic updates shows that this model has really made a powerful connection with collectors.

    #2: Rolex Yacht-Master

In addition to the Yacht-Master’s great looks, it also features Rolex’s new Oysterflex bracelet. This new bracelet, which at first appears to be an ordinary rubber strap, actually has a titanium “blade” inside. The watch comes in Everose gold and has a Cerachrom black bezel. Interestingly, while the larger model features the tried and true 3135, the smaller 37mm model actually uses the 2236, the first Rolex movement to use a silicon hairspring. Read more about the new Yacht-Master here.

    #3: Tudor North Flag

The Tudor North Flag (see our review here) found itself in the #3 position with just a single vote less than the Rolex. The North Flag, along with the Blue Pelagos, is the first Tudor ever to feature an in-house movement, the high-tech MT-5621. On top of ushering in a new era for the brand, it’s also loved for its vintage, almost Genta-esque styling and good value.

Again, thanks for your participation! We really enjoyed this.

    I would have gone:
    1. Black Bay
    2. GO Senator Observer
    3. Omega GM

None of those three excite me. The North Flag movement (not the design) is cool beans.

The Zenith Elite would have been my choice... Or maybe the Glashutte Original, I go back and forth...

I agree with the results, BBB is gorgeous, YM is the best looking watch released all year by ANY company, the though I think it's ugly, the NF movement is interesting

YM should have been 44mm, but hands down the winner

Well, I did have a Rolex in my top three, but it was in the third slot (#1 GO 60's Iconic is how I voted) and it was the Oyster Perpetual. Two of the top three would have easily been placed in my bottom three. Different strokes...

I'm sorry but #1 looks ugly even with the upgraded Hirsch Liberty straps.

The North Flag is a decent upscale Orient alternative.
