WIS in the wild! or good taste has no language barrier.

I was taking a meeting at one of our branches by MSU today. This particular location, because of housing in the area, services primarily Asian exchange students. Sometimes the language barrier is insurmountable and we have to get a interpreter on the line. Today I was speaking to a young Chinese man, who I would guess was in his early 20's.

We muddled through the business portion, and before he left he asked what type of watch I was wearing. I happily showed him my new everyday wear Hamilton Khaki King Scuba, ( on a new havana brown leather strap! )

I had not been able to get a good look at his wrist during the meeting, because of the angle of the desk, and when he showed me his, I was blown away to see a Zenith Chronomaster! Not your typical "Seen in the wild" watch. We then talked fondly of watches for another 20 minutes, seeming to have miraculously overcome any language barrier!

If only everyday I could get paid to talk about watches, and watch movements!

Oh, And I have to say I was envious when he said his next purchase was going to be a Breguet and then drove away in a brand new Jag! To be young and have money!

I did not feel comfortable asking him to let me take a pic, but here is a stock photo!

That's a great spotting in the wild! Zenith are a fairly rare find in the USA.

Talking to my AD here, she mentioned that Zenith and VC are amongst the more popular watch brands in China.
One of her colleagues standing nearby cracked a joke about the star like logos being similar to the one on the Chinese flag.
Then again, quite a few ADs I have visited since have all mentioned that the Z & VC are hot sellers amongst their Chinese clientale.
