Question Wonder if it's the right thing to do ...

I'm planning to exchange a few watches (including the recently purchased El Primero, the gold plated one) for a JLC Master Control auto w/date, probably in Jan. Should I, or shouldn't I ... ?

One advantage is that it will streamline my collection a bit, and of course, bring it to a wholly different level ...

Or, should I get a G.O. Senator Sixties instead?

Re: Wonder if it's the right thing to do ...

I say the following noting that I am one loves to shop but doesnt have the cash to buy as much as I would like to. I am currently sitting on 2 watches to my name both of which have been with me since 2001/02 area so take my opinion for what you want.

I dont see the point in owning a watch just to have it sit in a winder or on a shelf or a case. If the watches you are looking to sell seldom see wrist time and are present only as part of collection that is seen through pictures then it doesnt hurt to sell them to finance one that will give you a watch that you really want, will wear and as you said, brings your collection into a new realm.

If the others have no special meaning to you and receive little or no love then I would go for it... if however one or more have a special place with you then hang onto them and save the old fashion way.

Of my two pieces one was my first watch I personally purchased so it will not be going anywhere and the other is a G-shock that was a graduation gift so both on the sentimental side and the fact that it wont die it also is not going anywhere.

Good luck with your purchase be it soon or down the line.

    Go for it! Diversify!

I was thinking the same thing recently after discovering I've got 5 watches with El Primero movements.

Which do you think would be a nicer watch Ray, the JLC Master Control auto or the G.O. Sixties? I must admit, I might be a little biased and choose the JLC.

Not stuff I've really looked at so my opinion isn't worth much.

I was looking at JLC Chronos today at my local AD and the GO display was in the next case. Nothing in the JLC case really did much for me, but the GOs looked really nice! The JLCs looked chunky; the GOs elegant.

+1 on what Ray said: between these two, I'd go with the GO - and I absolutely love JLC as a brand :)

Question to Ray - out of the five, should you proceed to sell any, please let me know [PM if you wish]
