A word to the wise this holiday season...

    Hi -

While watches can do lots of neat things for you, there are some things that watches simply can't do. I really, really hope that no one has bought one of these...

... the only effect is a placebo effect, i.e. you think it's doing good.

Needless to say, there are a lot better way to get peace of mind...

    I haven't got a mobile phone.
So no effect or placebo effect needed.

    Cheers,

    Daddel.

    Hi -

But it's all those other folks with their mobile phones! You have to wear tinfoil to protect your precious bodily fluids and keep your third rank delta waves in profile! Remember the Alamo, who sank the Maine?

Man. Akin to "black box" logic, maybe? I mean, what's protecting the watch from the magnetism discussed in the arti . . . ah, why wonder? Ahhh, the press -- we just KNEW that tidbit 'bout now certain magnetics can be harmful to the watch itself (lucky we are WISers or watch aficionadoes, what have you) would've been left out of the article -- that's what we here on this board know, yes? Watch knowledge is a great thing . . .

I'd never buy one of those, besides, I'm saving for those magnets that increase gas mileage

    Hi -

Wait - those magnets also change your karma!

And I wonder what that means for companies like Sinn, Damasko and IWC that build watches that are protected from magnetic fields: isn't that being unfair to those watch movements, trapped inside and never able to feel the magnetic loooooovvvvvve that you get from buying these magnets, only $49.99 each, in three easy payments!

PS: I remember the ads from companies touting things like this, that more often than not had as their address something like "121 West Wacker Drive" in Chicago. That was a sure tip-off about the seriousness of the offer...

Well, the damage must already have been done by now.
As a former "funk" amateur all the radio waves must have destroyed my brain, and made me into this.............a watchoholic.
    Resistance is futile............
