    Would I be happy?!

    Hi,
I'm usually hanging out in divers part of the forum but I somehow think that this question is for anyone!
I love divers watches and collect both vintage and modern.
My modern collection is nice group of boutique divers mostly, I trade a lot so it changes.
Just for reference at the moment I have, Oris Aquis Titan Small Second
    Helson Turtle
    Halios Puck DLC
    Zuriner Depth Charge zv1-v3
    Zuriner Depth Charge DLC
    Others
    Shinola Argonite 1069, 47mm
    Sicura Computer 1970 NOS
    Sea Gull 1963
    And more vintage divers
I love my watches and love to trade and try new brands.
    I had Planet Ocean xl
    Longines Admiral GMT
    Bell & Ross
Basically I had nicer brands but not as Rolex, Panerai and similar.
I can't shake the feeling that the time has come to get one of those especially Rolex Sea-Dweller that's one of my grail watches.
But in order to do that I would need to sell most of my modern collection.
What I'm trying to ask my self is will I be happy with only one watch.
Maybe Rolex or nice Tudor sub.
When I see one in the wild they look really cool, it's like you can almost see the quality, almost like they glowing!
    They carry serous wrist presence.
    So that's my dilemma?
    Did anyone had similar experience?

As i said my collection is changing all the time so you can't see Oris in group pictures

    Thanks

    Roberto

Given that you have many options in your collection, I'm going to hazard a guess that if you did sell off your collection and pared it down to one Rolex, you'd be happy in the short term, but not the long term. I know for myself I could never have just one watch. I like diversity and I enjoy having options that fit different situations, wardrobes, styles etc. If I were you, I'd think long and hard before selling your watches for just one nice piece.

Probably not. Much of the glowing, mythic power of a holy grail lies in its being out of reach.

For me quality is greater than quantity. That being said I'd still want to have at least 3 nice watches.

In order to make an opinion I feel you must know what you are talking about...I own a ROLEX GMTIIc and b/4 this I owned another GMT which I used as
    my (real)dive watch....So that "glow"that "quality"...it's real.

Yes, even do I never owned one I know what I see.
    There's something special about them.
I even reply to a few Rolex fsot offering majority of my collection.
I know I'll miss it, I'm actually sure but I'm wondering will one new watch fill that void.

    Thanks

    Agreed.

However, OP, if you are looking for what others would do in your situation, I'd keep the Oris and sell the rest to put towards the Rolex of your choice.

I too can never be a one watch guy. I can't have less than 5-6 at the minimum. But you might find you have some that can be moved because they overlap styles or feel similar to you. Maybe you can pare off a few and have a head start saving for the big one. Once you have it you will know if you can do without more.

    Re: Would I be happy?!

    Yes,
that's the whole thing, if I could only get it to try for a while, I would definitely know after a few weeks but to even get there I need to "move mountains".
Unfortunately I don't know anyone who owns one so.... .
Anyone in a mood to lend Rolex to a fellow watch enthusiast?
(i should post that in WTB section)lol anyway, thanks for your thoughts guys, it helps to hear other opinions

    Thanks

    Roberto
