Which would you buy for approx $1500-$1700

I'm not saying I'm going to... just that I might... but I won't... but maybe I will.

Anyway... here's the two I'm looking at, other suggestions in the same range (NEW ONLY) are greatly appreciated.

    EBEL Hexagon Retrograde

    or

    Seiko Ananta Double Retrograde

    Max,

I have an unfair advantage here

But I think you know my answer. Since the Ebel costs twice the cost of the Seiko, but you can get the Ebel for $1400 with full AD warranty for 3 years, my vote HAS to go to the Ebel. Which I think is a very cool watch to begin with. Plus you can pretty much always get the Ananta if you want one, but these Ebel's, well, once the're gone, they won't be back. Certainly not at these prices.

    Very tough call.
I do not like to see screws or bolts when looking at the watch face, but I also do not like the weird crown and lugs of the Seiko.
    Ebel by a smidgen.

The Speedmaster is the only thing we took to the Moon that had no modification whatsoever Ė it was right off the shelf. Whatís interesting about my first one is that itís beat up, itís never been cleaned, itís never been repaired and to this day I can take that watch and wind it and it keeps time as well as the day I got it. And Iíve walked in space with it for two and a half hours and worn it on the Moon for over three days.

Ebel out of the two, though I'm not too keen on retrograde dials.

I'd probably base my decision on style, since they appear quite different. I think the Ebel looks much classier, and I really like the rose gold hands and markers. The Ananta looks to be chunkier and sportier, which might be what you prefer. I don't think you'd fault the quality of either one.

Wow, I'm smitten by the Ebel, how much is it?

    Is it a current model?
