Gift Wouldn't mind some suggestions, my wife wants a new watch

So my wife is a nurse who works the graveyard shift and she asked me to get her a new watch, but the catch is it has to have some kind of luminosity. She needs to see her watch in the dark because her patients are sleeping when she's taking their vitals.

I've looked around at the obvious watches, like a timex with indigo, but their womens selections are really ugly in my opinion.

My question is does anyone have any suggestions for a "cool" looking watch or watch brand that may fit the bill? She's in her early 20's and wants something that she could wear with scrubs or street clothes. Some direction would be really nice.

    Thanks in advance.

It depends on what you're after, my initial reaction was also a timex or a g-shock, they're tough but like you i thought those lady watches were ugly.

Eventually we settled on the omega seamaster for her as it was good for the beach as well as in the office, the lume may not be up to your wife's requirements...

My wife also wears the seiko black monster seen on the far righ of the pic:

Try Ball watch. They have a few ladies watches and they come with Tritium tubes that are always glowing.

punch, do you have a particular price range as a guideline? By looking at Timex I'm guessing below $100-150?

I'd like to stay under $150.

The Seamaster may be a 'tad' outta my price range haha.

Exceeding your stated price range, but hey, it's a gift for your wife!

So, if you like the sporty look of the Omegas above or the Rolex Sub, you should have a look at either the MarcelloC "Lady Nettuno" or the EPOS 4241. The Epos is cheaper, would set you back USD 400 IIRC.

I don't think you guys are getting that I'm looking something she can easily see in the dark, i could go and pick out any nice expensive ladys watch but I was looking for some suggestions about a decent watch that has some kind of luminosity.

One thing I would add is everyone is suggesting an automatic movement watch. In the medical field, if you do patient assessments, a quartz watch is much easier to time a pulse with than an auto with a sweep second hand. I was a paramedic for 25 years and am an automatic fan but I usually wore a quartz on the truck.

I am sorry that I can't really offer any suggestions on a quartz watch with good lume though. I wore either a Fossil or a Swiss Army at work. I would just go to a local store and look at the lume on what is available. Ask the sales person to let you view the watch in a dark area. Thats what I did when I bought my Swiss Army quartz.

I would definitely take my wife with me to pick the one she likes as well. I thought my Wife would love the Rolex Ladies Date Just I bought her but she rarely ever wore it and would either wear her Longines or Swiss Army. She just didn't care for it and the Rolex name didn't impress her one bit. She wanted a comfortable watch, not a "status" watch. She thinks my watch fetish is crazy. I eventually sold it and bought me a new watch.

I think my best advice is you could look at Seiko. Many of the Seikos have good lume and are in the affordable range: you can find them at Kohl's or JCPenney if you don't want to buy online. Swatches are nice but I don't know how good the lume is.
