    WUS down for 36+ hours?

I must have hexed myself - just the other day I wrote that I never have problems loading the site. Then over the last couple of days, WUS would not load in any browser I tried, the site appeared to be down and out for the count.

I was down at a friend's house, about 25 miles away near Washington DC last night, he has fiber optic (FIOS) super-fast access. We tried it from his place and could not get WUS to load either. Finally, this morning it's working.

So, have there been any other problems, or is it some weird local access issue? I had no other problems with any of the other websites I visit.

P.S. Am I glad it's back, life is only half as fun without WUS! (Thanks Ernie and the crew!)

WUS is hosted from Amsterdam and from my understanding, a large server farm there had some downtime problems. I'm happy the site is back up now.
    Lots of dive watches.

Yep, I had no access to WUS all Sunday. Oh well, it gave me an excuse to get out of the house, which shocked the neighbours. They thought I'd died 2 years ago.

    Thanks for the thread Sociac!
Was just about to ask the exact same question. Earlier today, I conferred with another Australian member via email and he was of the same conclusion, WUS down. After it came back, and I saw no mention in other threads, I thought it may have been merely an Australian aberration. It sure did highlight my sad little WUS dependent life. How many times did I hit that refresh button, not to mention trying my wife's and works computers. It's back, I'm happy.

It seems to happen to me once every few weeks for like, 8 hours at a time. I actually did make it through a few times in the last 24 hours or so. Oh well, as I've said otherwise, it's free, so I won't complain.

I was starting to go into withdrawals without WUS... Is that a sign that I spend too much time here now?

Re: WUS down for 36+ hours?

The Watchuseek forum suffered from an "Distibuted Denial of Service" attack yesterday.
At some points the servers got a flood of 1GB of Internet traffic.
The network couldn't cope with that amount of traffic.

The ISP blocked the IP address of the forum on the edge of the Internet.
That brought back the network again.

This morning (Amsterdam time) we re-enabled the forum again on an other IP address.
We did this after we noticed that the Internet storm had stopped.

    Regards,

    Brenno.

I'd interpret that as saying, "I actually got stuff done at work today." Put it this way, I actually went for a swim..
