Exclamation Yet another Kickstarter Campaign.. this one is a tad expensive.

I like keeping my eye out on the new Kickstarter watches (particularly LOVED the Anstead Oceanis) and saw this one pop out.. but geez. $15,000 USD retail for this watch? Anyone else think it's a bit over priced as a starting out company? Great components and awesome bracelet but.. man. I'm not a big fan, but more power to them.

Ikepod has been around for a number of years actually. I've seen a few of their pieces over at Hodinkee.

Yeah, let me pay $15,000 for a brand new watch right off the bat. Or, I can get a less expensive Rolex or Omega. Hell, for $15,000 I'll take my chances tracking down a vintage Patek Philippe in need of some TLC.

You know what, a good acquaintance of mine owns two watches. One is a very cool, vintage Seiko that looks a lot like that watch. Only better. I know it has a ton of sentimental value to him. But for a couple of grand, I'm certain he'll part with it. Gee, what'll I do with the rest of the $13,000? Anyone for Vegas?!

Apparently someone thinks they can revive a luxury watch brand with clever marketing and a ridiculous price-tag. Not sure how A.Lange and Sohne handled its revival. Pretty much sure though that they relied on quality watches as part of their revival.

If I was going to drop $15k on a watch it wouldn't be a start up.

For 15 large I want a dot between the 31 and the 1.
And they ripped off the REI logo.
