Young collector starting out, need some advise :)

    Hi all,

This is my first post so I hope this is the proper place to ask. I’m a newer collector starting out and so far have some entry point watches.

    Breitling B13050.1
    Longings Heritage 1945
    Hamilton Khaki automatic

I have the opportunity to buy an Arnold & Son HMS1 for $3800. This is the stainless steel white dial version limited to 250 pieces. It is a full set with box and papers and in excellent condition. Since this would be my biggest purchase yet, I’m being super cautious.

Here is where I’d maybe like some help. Is there anywhere to find out values of a watch on the secondary market? I see other listings of the watch for 5k-6k so it seems like I’m getting a great deal. But I haven’t been able to find any recent sold watches of the same Arnold & Son piece on eBay or anything.

So my question is, how do you guys go about valuing preowned watches and what is the best way to find comparable sold pieces?

    Thanks!
    ALM

I find Chrono24 a good place to check for second hand prices. Jomashop for gray market.

Look at ebay sold listings, and watchrecon.

Hi, so did you get the watch in the end? I'm new too! I use Chrono24, eBay, and watchrecon to do my research. So far I find chrono24 the most user friendly for research, but I noticed that watchrecon returns with lower prices somehow

Why bother digging up 6 month old threads? Especially where the OP hasn't submitted ANY posts on WUS for 5 months.

This is the level of niceness we should extend to all new members - well done.

The usual suspects; watchrecon, ebay, chrono24.
