    Your Biggest WIS Mistake/Regret?

This ought to be a fun (?) topic!
Share your biggest BONEHEAD move in your personal illustrious career as a collector of fine timepieces!
The watch you sold and hated doing it a week later....
The SPECTACULAR deal you missed out on.....
The watch you HAD to have and it just sucked heinously irl....
That fake Patek you bought on the 'Bay
The watch you bought and saw available for half what you paid a month later....etc., etc..
We've all done it at some point, (you new guys/gals will sooner or later btw.).
    I'll start with 2.
A while back I jumped at the chance to buy a GORGEOUS and pristine Omega Speedy, white gold bezel, alot like this'n:

    At a really good price.
Well it was before I gave in to bi-focals and the sub-dials looked like mud and I hated that it didn't "hack".
I figured I could "flip" it and make a decent profit.
I barely broke even in the end and I REALLY wish I'd kept it!

More recently I bought a Citizen EcoZilla, which I really liked the looks of and it was just TOO big all round and high on the wrist.
    My "EcoDoorknob" disaster.....

So what's your biggest regret/mistake (so far)?

Third place: c. 2001/2. Not buying the Seiko 600M auto re-issue diver, and spending the money on a (since-sold) yellow-dial Tudor Hydronaut. What was I thinking. Terrible move.

Runner-up: The year was 2000, and I passed on an Omega PloProf in pristine condition for $1800. In 2007 it would probably command the upper end of the $4.5-6K range. Not that I would sell it...had I bought it.

Winner: Missing out on a green-dial Eterna Kontiki dive watch because the model was deleted and no dealer in the UK (of which there were about three) had one. The year was 1998. The year I got into dive watches. My grail. I dream of a NOS hitting the sales boards or the bay.

Mine was passing on a pristine Omega SM120 Chrono for what now seems like a great price and buying something that I don't even remember.

I have rectified the mistake and have the same model at Bienne for restoration.

I was asked what the time was that was on my watch ?
Does anybody really know what time it is ?
    Does anybody really care ?
If so I can't imagine why..........
I do, I do, I do care about time.

Havent been doing the watch thing too long so..... dont have too many stories.

The only one I can think of is my first nice watch, a great looking Seiko 5, I purchased before I knew what my fancy was. Well.. I got the watch and yes it was gorgeous... but on my big ole wrist a 36mm watch just doesnt work too well. I thought I had bought a womens watch. I still wear it now and then.... I cant bring myself to sell it because it keeps great time (-1 sec per day) and even if I was to sell it Id only get MAYBE $50 for it.

So Ill keep it.. maybe give it to my daughter when she gets a little older. I already sized one of my old Fossils for her and she loves it.. eight years old and sportin' the "cool" watch in 2nd grade.

My biggest WIS mistake was finding this *&%^ site. Now I'm hooked on watches, and my wife is always giving me a healthy dose of grief about it .

Seriously, my biggest regret was selling my Kobold SMG. Dammit, that was about the most painful thing I've done with respect to watches.

I have two. One. Selling my dads Patek about 15 years ago. Sold it for three thousand dollars! A fortune at that time. Then I saw one on the bay. Exact. went for 12 thousand dollars!

Number two. Buying my 8th watch for my collection about 2 years ago.
I was down to Omega, Ball and Breitling. I am sorry to say that I picked the Breitling. Great watch. But the bracelet fell apart. And since I stupidly did buy from an AD I was stuck. So now it is on a leather strap.

I have since bought an Omega and a Ball as well.

    No problems with either one.

(My Roberge is still my favorite. Does anyone have one? I wear it for special occasions. I wear the Omega to the office and wear the Ball as my eveyday knock around watch)
