My only purchase this year... That's all I'm "allowed" to buy! I've only had it for about a week:

I get to buy one watch a year - austerity program enforced by the wife - Even though money certainly isn't a problem in our household. She's considers my watch mania as somewhat frivolous plus she's incredibly conservative with money. It has roots in her central European ethnic background and the fact that her grandparents fled poverty ridden post-WWI Germany and the Czech Republic. Even when they got to the USA, they suffered greatly through the depression. So my wife just can't get used to having money and being able to buy, essentially, anything we want!

No real planned purchases this year. I saw this Transocean when I took my Sub in for service, so I bought it.

I also got this Tissot Ballade III while killing time when my wife was shopping.

[OT] Your new watches - 2013: Weibull fit

    Hi guys,

I just wanted to share my joy of seeing this poll developing a nice Weibull distribution shape*, just in case you can appreciate such things:

According to this, the weighted average of watches bought 2013 by a poll participant was 5.5. :o)

Nice observation and analysis FFritz. I too was happy with the shape it was developing.
I was thinking of doing something similar towards the end of the poll period, but I see I need not bother now*!
Still time to contribute to this important statistical survey everyone!

The only thing I was disappointed with was the zero that I included in the poll at the beginning (and which at least 1 person voted for) disappeared - I still don't know how that happened.

I must remember to do this again next year and we can see if our weighted average changes - maybe as an indicator of health of world economy

*: maybe we should do goodness of fit tests on Weibull vs alternative exponential distributions and see which fits best.

Had to promise my wife that I wouldn't buy as many in 2014 And yes, the Stuhrling was an eBay impulse buy lol.

After long introspection, I behaved myself and managed to get only one watch this year. It was the Sinn EZM3.
But ever since the Aquadive BS-100 GMT came out , I've been restless...Must ... re...sist...
