Zenith Port Royal or Ulysse Nardin

I went to a local AD today to take a look at some Ulysse Nardin watches.

After trying on some Ulysse Nardin we started talking about Zenith watches and how, because of the financial problems of the distributor, he had to stop selling Zenith for a while.

He had though still a few of them in his volt. 1 x Defy Xtreme and 2 x Port Royal. The Defy is beautiful but just a bit to extreme to wear it often. For the Port Royal Open he could make me a good price, about 1/3 of the price off ... I'm tempted.

    What would you guys do.

Go with the Zenith Port Royal Open:

or go with the Ulysse Nardin Blue Surf Limited Edition:

(the watch and strap are much more light blue in reality)

Zenith for me because I like dress watches. I don't know if this matters to you or not, but the Port Royale has an in-house movement 4021 (36K bph El Primero) while that particular UN has a refinished ETA 2892 powering it which is renamed the UN26.

Have you looked at Daniel Roth watches?

I'd probably go for the Zenith out of those two, for the reasons ULF above has mentioned, plus I prefer the look of it, altho I do like the bezel and case on the UN, not so keen on the dial tho!!

Is there much difference in the cost of these at the AD???

Which one do you like best??

that is an easy one for me mate, i'd take that zenith 100% of the times over that un. (full disclosure~that zenith is competing with the cartier tank for my exit piece) this is the only exposition dial watch i would ever consider purchasing, it's an absolute animal of a piece dude!

this piece must be on a croc strap and not the rubber as shown.

+1. Almost a no-brainer! Plus the Zenith is much dressier.

Is that UN sponsored by Quicksilver?

I actualy don't mind the UN if you ditched the hideous strap, but that Zenith looks especially nice. Again, if you ditch the rubber strap.

Is the Zenith a 30 minute chrono?
